INCIDENT TYPE: Commercial Structure Fire

LOCATION: 309 W. 1500 South

At 1:40 a.m., on Thursday, Feb. 15, Salt Lake City dispatchers received a call that “dense smoke,” was coming from a commercial building located at 309 W. 1500 South.

Salt Lake City Fire Department responded to within minutes to find a reception center, and its adjoining warehouse, on fire.

Nearly 40 firefighters responded to the three-alarm fire, working for about 45 minutes to extinguish the blaze.

No one was injured, and no one was in the building at the time of the incident.

The cause, origin and cost of damage to the structure is still under investigation.

Traffic along 300 West shut down for about two hours while crews attended to the situation. The incident should not affect traffic on Thursday.
